14 ‘Behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘that I will perform that good thing which I have promised to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah.
Today was a special day for me! I had an opportunity to see President Obama for my birthday! Talk about exciting! I found out Sunday that he was coming, but there was a limited amount of tickets. I was determined that I would see him!
On Monday morning, I put on my walking shoes and headed to the designated location to get my ticket. When I arrived I was greeted by a growing line of people that were also determined to get their ticket! We had no idea how many tickets would be distributed, but we waited in hopes of getting one. As we waited in line, we took the opportunity to meet our fellow line buddies. As we shared our excitement about the possibility of seeing the President, we began to establish a bond.
For those that have ever waited to purchase tickets for an event, you have probably experienced that bond that only grows between fellow line buddies. For example, they understand the trouble you went through to make sure you arrived early so you wouldn't be in the back of the line. They can relate to the excitement and fear you feel while waiting to find out if you will even get a ticket. As the time passes by, you begin to encourage each other when your feet and back start to ache and you start to question your sanity while asking yourself is this really worth it! Yes, these fellow line buddies share a common goal that helps to keep everyone's eye on the prize.
As the time started to draw near for the ticket office to finally open and start distributing tickets, the unthinkable happens! It's that one thing that has the ability to upset a person before the line ever moves! What is IT you ask? It's when people invite their friends that just arrived and have not shared one minute of the waiting struggle to get in front of them!! Oh talk about a major No No in my book!
On this particular occasion it was not just one person, but SIX PEOPLE!! Needless to say, everyone was upset including myself. As we mumbled under our breath to each other, one of our fellow line buddies decided to speak up. Now that I think back on it, it was quite funny! I have to say that I admired her for taking a stand for what was right and as a result the line cutters went to the back of the line.
Eventually, the line started to move and we all received our reward! There's something about finally receiving what you have been waiting for! As I walked back to my office with my ticket in hand, I begin to think about those spiritual promises I've been waiting on. Could it be that my blessing was delayed due to the people or life circumstances that "cut in"? Whatever may have happened, I believe the seasons are changing!
I know it probably seems like you are at the back of the line for a miracle, but as the word says, "Behold the days are coming that the Lord will perform that good thing that He promised you". You're closer to the front of the line than you think! As your fellow line buddy, I'm here to encourage you to stay in line! It is worth the wait and you will receive your reward if you do not give up! Keep your eyes on the prize and disregard the pain! I believe WE ARE NEXT IN LINE!
