Today, I'm reminded of a phrase that is used throughout the Bible "and it came to pass". This is really speaking to me today. One scripture in particular that really comes to mind is in 1 Samuel 1 concerning Hannah. The bible says year after year Hannah was provoked by her husband's other wife Peninnah because she didn't have a child. One year while in Shiloh, she wept before the Lord in anguish and made a vow to the Lord. One of the priest saw her praying and to make a long story short, he told her to go in peace and that the God of Israel would grant her petition that she asked of Him. So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, “Because I have asked for him from the Lord.”
Sometimes we can get so used to going through that we think a change will never come. I can totally relate. There was one thing in particular that I had before the Lord and when the answer I had been praying for finally came, a sister struggled to receive it. You would think I would have been jumping up and down giving God some praise, but instead I questioned if it was really true. I was doubting the answer to my own prayers.
How many of us have done that? Why is it easier for us to accept the bad news/circumstance/situation and hard for us to receive what is clearly an answer to our prayers? This tends to happen due to the length of time we pray about a situation without seeing an immediate change. Instead of losing hope and doubting things will ever change, we should be praying even the more that God will increase our faith. Although we may become accustomed to dealing with the same thing day after day, we should never allow our expectations of a breakthrough to die.
There are many things that some of us have laid before the Lord. Like Hannah, you may have been dealing with the same issue for months or even years. You may have went before the Lord in prayer many times about the same issue. Tonight, I'm encouraging you to grab hold of "and it came to pass" because what you are believing God for Will come to pass! If He said it then that settles it!!
